In August 2016, Hawai‘i CFS announced a new advisory body comprised of local leaders and advocates to help oversee and guide its work in Hawai‘i.
Advisory board members were selected by HCFS based on their long-standing work in the community on environmental and food issues. HCFS is honored to have commitments from the following leaders, advocates, and community members to participate the inaugural advisory board:

The advisory board will convene to review and evaluate HCFS’s work, and help plan its strategic partnerships and projects.
A message from our advisors:
On September 28th, the Hawai’i Center for Food Safety (“CFS”) advisory board met for the first time. CFS staff and several stakeholders attended. We discussed the organization's strategic direction and heard concerns from key leaders in Hawai'i's food movement. We had a robust discussion, and the advisory board extends a warm mahalo to everyone who participated. CFS remains committed to safe and sustainable food systems for Hawai’i. We believe Kanaka Maoli and local communities should continue to have central roles in our food movements, and the advisory board looks forward to assisting HCFS strengthen its capacities in this regard.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the advisory board noted its unanimous support of HCFS, its director Ashley Lukens, and staff members. The advisory board further concluded that, as with any complex challenge, tactics and strategy can and should be reexamined from time to time. The advisory board is committed to work with CFS in this process, so as to achieve our shared goal of making Hawai'i's food system safe for the people and the ‘āina.
